How UroCompanion handles your data. Last updated 5 July 2026.
This policy explains what UroCompanion (the “Service”) collects, why, how it’s stored, and the choices you have. It sits alongside our Terms of Use. You can read most of the Service as a guest without an account; the data below is mostly about the personal features you opt into by signing up.
The short version
We collect only what we need to run your account and the study tools, we use it only to provide and improve the Service, and we do not sell your personal data. You can view and update most details in your settings, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.
1. What we collect
We collect three kinds of information:
- Details you give us. When you create an account we collect your name, username, and email, plus anything optional you choose to add — level, institution, country, and city.
- Study activity you generate. The work you do on the Service — bookmarks, highlights, notes, flashcards and their review schedule, personal tests, quiz results, and progress — so those features work and sync across your devices.
- Questions you ask UroBot. These may be stored to cache and speed up common answers. Cached questions are kept separately from your identity and are removed when they’re no longer in active use.
2. How we use it
We use your information only to provide and improve the Service: to run your account, save and sync your study data, schedule your flashcards and tests, show your progress, and make common UroBot answers faster. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. Where it's stored
Your data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services). We take reasonable measures to protect it, though no online service can promise perfect security.
4. Sharing
We don’t sell your personal data and we don’t share it to let others advertise to you. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the Service (for example, cloud hosting and, if you use it, AI processing for UroBot); they only handle data as needed to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Service and its users.
5. Your choices and rights
You can view and update most of your details from your account settings. You can ask us to delete your account and its associated data by emailing urocompanion@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or export your data — contact us at the same address and we’ll help.
6. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete it, we remove your account and associated study data. Some records may persist briefly in backups before they cycle out, and cached UroBot questions are removed once they’re no longer in active use.
7. Children
UroCompanion is intended for medical professionals, trainees, and students. It is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under the age required to hold an account where they live.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
