Terms of Use

UroCompanion brings urology topics, surgical approaches and procedures, guideline summaries, clinical flowcharts, calculators, practice questions, and flashcards into one place, alongside UroBot — an AI assistant that answers from the Service’s own content and links to the source page. It is a study companion. It is not a clinical decision support system, a diagnostic tool, or a medical device, and it is not certified, approved, or regulated as any of those.

You may use the Service if you are at least 16 years old (or older, where your country requires it to agree to online services) and you are a medical professional, trainee, or student, or otherwise have a genuine educational reason to use it. If you are agreeing on behalf of an institution, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.

We may suspend or close an account we reasonably believe does not meet these conditions.

You can read almost all of the Service as a guest. An account adds the personal features: bookmarks, highlights, notes, flashcard scheduling, personal tests, decks, comments, progress tracking, and UroBot.

• Give accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
• An account is personal to you. Do not share it, sell it, or let anyone else sign in with it.
• Keep your password secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it results from our own failure.
• Tell us promptly at urocompanion@gmail.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could harm, disable, overburden, or impair it;
• scrape, crawl, bulk-download, mirror, resell, or redistribute the content, or use it to build or train a competing product or any machine-learning model;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems, its administrative areas, or any other user’s data, or probe or test its security without our written permission;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source of any part of the Service, except where the law expressly allows it;
• upload anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, deliberately misleading on a clinical point, or infected with malware;
• upload or enter any information that identifies a real patient — including in notes, comments, or questions to UroBot;
• impersonate anyone, misrepresent your clinical credentials, or use the content to hold yourself out as a clinical authority; or
• use automated systems to interact with the Service in a way that imposes an unreasonable load.

We may investigate suspected breaches and take proportionate action, including removing content or suspending access.

The Service, its design, and its content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Clinical guidelines, atlas material, and other third-party sources referenced or summarised on the Service remain the property of their respective owners, and we make no claim over them.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the content for your own study and clinical education. You may not use it commercially, publish it, or share it beyond that without our written permission. This licence ends when your account or these Terms end.

Anything you create on the Service — notes, highlights, flashcards, decks, comments — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.

By storing it on the Service you give us a limited licence to host, store, back up, and display it back to you so the features work. If you post a comment or share a deck, that licence extends only as far as showing it to the people that feature is meant to show it to. The licence exists solely to operate the Service, is free of charge, and ends when you delete the content or your account — except for copies in routine backups, which cycle out on their own.

You are responsible for what you upload, and you confirm you have the right to upload it and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or contain patient-identifiable information.

Comments and other user contributions are the views of the people who wrote them, not ours. We do not verify them and they carry none of the (already limited) authority of our own content — treat a comment as a colleague’s remark, never as a clinical source.

Comments are automatically hidden for review once enough distinct users report them, and we may remove content or restrict an account that breaches these Terms. We are not obliged to monitor or retain any user content. If you think something infringes your rights, tell us at urocompanion@gmail.com with enough detail to identify it and we will look into it promptly.

UroBot answers using the Service’s own content rather than the open internet, and links to its sources. Even so, AI answers can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, and can state a wrong answer confidently. Treat UroBot as a study aid, open its cited page, and never act on its output for patient care without independent verification.

To use UroBot you must be signed in, and fair-use limits apply so the service stays available and affordable for everyone. Do not enter personal or patient-identifiable information into it — as explained in the Privacy Policy, questions are cached and a question may be shown to other users as a popular suggestion.

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, add, or remove features, and may suspend the Service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Where a change is significant and we can reasonably give notice, we will.

UroCompanion is free to use. No payment is required, and we do not collect payment details.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the content is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any clinical purpose. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk, and section 12 explains the limits of what we are liable for.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

• we are not liable for any clinical or professional decision made in reliance on the Service, or for any harm arising from one;
• we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunity;
• we are not liable for content posted by other users, or for third-party services the Service links to or relies on; and
• our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to SAR 500 (or the equivalent in your currency). The Service is provided free of charge, and this cap reflects that.

If you are a consumer, you may have rights under the mandatory law of your own country that these Terms cannot reduce; nothing here affects them.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you upload — including any claim that your content infringes someone’s rights or discloses patient information. This does not apply to the extent the claim results from our own act or omission.

You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account yourself from your settings. Deletion deactivates the account immediately and permanently erases your data after 30 days, during which you can restore it by signing in. The detail is in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will give you notice and a chance to retrieve your content first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, and 15 — do so.

These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection rules of your own country, or of the right to bring proceedings there where the law gives you that right.

Before starting formal proceedings, please email urocompanion@gmail.com — most disagreements are quicker to fix directly.

We may update these Terms as the Service develops or the law changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice — by email or a notice in the Service — before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not, you can close your account.

• Whole agreement. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
• Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is applied as far as it lawfully can be.
• No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
• Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if the Service changes hands, and will tell you if that happens.
• No third-party rights. Nobody outside this agreement can enforce it.
• Language. These Terms are written in English; an English version governs if a translation differs.
